Admission

You must be formally admitted to the IU South Bend before you can register for classes at the Elkhart Center or at Plymouth High School.  For specific admission requirements go to www.iusb.edu/admission or contact the Office of Admissions at  1-877-462-4872, ext. 4839.  Applications, financial aid and scholarship information are also available at the Elkhart Center.  New student packets may be picked up at the Elkhart Center at 125 E. Franklin Street during regular office hours.

To make an appointment to meet with an admissions counselor at the Elkhart Center on Monday afternoons between 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., contact Mike Renfrow at 1-877-462-4872, ext. 4497 or at crenfrow@iusb.edu.   

Placement Testing

Placement exams are administered both at the Elkhart Center and at Plymouth High School.  Placement exams dates along with instructions for registering to take placement exams are located at www.iusb.edu/~sbexams.

Academic Advising

Incoming IU South Bend students are assigned to a faculty or professional advisor to help with registration, answer questions about degree programs, and serve as a mentor.  Advising takes place within the college or school that houses a student's major.  Students who are undecided about their major are advised by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Center.

Financial Aid/Scholarships

To apply for financial aid you need to complete the IU South Bend Application for Financial Aid and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the priority application date March 1.   These forms are available at the Elkhart Center.   Applications received after the priority date may not be processed by the time fees are due.  Financial aid questions should be directed to the financial aid office at 1-877-462-4872, ext. 4357.  Information is also available at www.iusb.edu/~sbfinaid/.

Scholarship information is available at www.iusb.edu/~scholar1/.  Several scholarships are awarded exclusively to students from Elkhart and Marshall Counties.
