Stephen M. Salisbury is in his senior year at IU South Bend. He will graduate in May with a B.S. in Economics and will also have completed a double major in Sociology. While serving this year as the President of the Student Body and Student Government Association at IU South Bend, he will also serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Undergraduate Research Journal. Stephen has had his work published in two student publications at IU South Bend: the Undergraduate Research Journal and New Views on Gender. He has also won awards in business writing and Sociology research at the IU South Bend Undergraduate Research Conference. This past year he won the Women and Gender Studies Writing Award, the Ariela Royer Scholarship in Sociology, the George Wing Memorial Scholarship in Economics and Finance, and was named the sole winner of the Chad Pearson Memorial Scholarship given to a student who demonstrates service to others and who intends to pursue a career in human services, public service, or education.
This past summer he also worked as an undergraduate researcher in the Economics department at the University of Notre Dame. Stephen is in his second full year with the MoneySmarts program as a Peer Financial Educator, but has also served for several years as a Peer Mentor in the First Year Seminar and the Judd Leighton School of Business and Economics. He also works as a Math, Science, Business, and Statistics tutor both at the university and privately.
